Law students may use books and other physical materials while they are in the Law Library. The circulation desk will remain closed closed during the COVID-19 shut down, so books and other physical materials cannot be checked out to patrons for use outside the library.

Renewing Materials

Renewing Materials

Library books will automatically renew during the COVID-19 shutdown. If a library book is currently overdue, no fines will be assessed during this period. You do not need to travel to campus to return any library materials at this time. Questions may be sent to the circulation department at lawcirc@umn.edu.

All UMN Libraries are closed and are unable to provide access, delivery, or lending of any books or physical materials.

Get-It Book Delivery

Get-It Book Delivery

The Get-It service has been suspended during the shutdown. If you currently have books checked-out through Get-It, they will renew automatically and you will not be charged overdue fines.

Digital Copy Service

Get Digital Copies of Items Held at Libraries on Campus

The Law Library digitization service has been suspended for the duration of the shutdown. ILL can still attempt to fill law student and faculty requests for articles and documents in electronic format.

Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Services

Due to the COVID-19 shutdown, requests for physical materials are unavailable until further notice.  ILL will attempt to fill law student and faculty requests for articles and documents in electronic format.

To place an interlibrary loan request for an electronic document, please fill out the Law Library's Interlibrary Loan form: z.umn.edu/LawILL.

  • Note: Many libraries across the country are currently closed due to COVID-19. ILL requests may be more difficult to fill at this time.
