American Law Reports (ALR)

American Law Reports, more often referred to by the acronym, ALR, is, in its original print form, a multi-volume  set of books, published in various series. The ALR volumes contain annotations, which are encyclopedic essays or articles which collect cases around a particular point of law.  The collected cases are then discussed and analyzed in depth regarding that point of law. Annotations are an excellent source of analysis and commentary, and they can also effectively assist you in locating relevant cases.  The A.L.R. Index lists articles by subject matter and covers all A.L.R. volumes, except for the first series.
