International Human Rights (LAW 6886)

This guide was created for Professor Weissbrodt's International Human Rights course, Fall 2016

International Custom

Analyzing the behavior of nations to argue that a specific behavior (or lack thereof) is evidence of international custom is something that scholars do. Remember how to find scholarly commentary?!  Books and articles.  To find books and articles on international custom, use subject headings:

  • customary law
  • customary law - [country or region]
  • customary international law

Additionally, the International Committee of the Red Cross created a database that tracks international custom in the humanitarian law context.
